FREE Book Depository at the Depot Cafe
The Depot, with its amazing views of the Macleay River, will soon be transformed into the perfect place for bookworms looking for their daily caffeine fix. Their FREE Book Depository works on the philosophy of ‘bring one, share one’, that is, bring in your spare books and feel free to borrow books.
There are many advantages of ‘book swapping’, starting off with the cost saving, as it provides a great way to source new books without having to pay.
Secondly, you can give yourself a pat on the back for recycling books and saving the environment in the process. Swapping rather than buying books means less trees are chopped to produce reading material.
Thirdly, it’s a great way to declutter your bookshelves. Avid readers can hoard books like squirrels hoard nuts, but even the most relentless pack rats can run out of space.
And finally, in an increasingly virtual age, book swapping offers a rare treat: a real book, left by a real person, simply celebrating how wonderful they found it to be. How lovely to leave your favourite book, knowing it will be found and revelled-in afresh; and what unexpected joy, to find a book yourself, to take note of its inscription, read its chapters, form your own opinion.
Help us share the gift of reading by donating your spare books now at the Depot.
